Five Christmas designs in evergreen, gold and cream: an Advent candle Story reading Peace has a name, a Christmas Eve invitation, a Christmas Eve service program cover, a cream Come home for Christmas Story and an Advent begins post.

When is Advent 2026, and when is Christmas Eve?

Advent begins on Sunday 29 November 2026 and Christmas Eve is Thursday 24 December. Announce Advent a week ahead, post a candle each Sunday and send the Christmas Eve invitation about ten days out.

  • Advent 2026 runs from Sunday 29 November, with the other Sundays on 6, 13 and 20 December. Christmas Eve is Thursday 24 December, Christmas Day is Friday 25 December and Watch Night is Thursday 31 December.
  • These are Western church dates. Some Eastern Orthodox churches keep Christmas on 7 January, so check your own calendar.
  • Seven designs cover most of the season: an Advent post, a weekly candle, a Christmas Eve invite, a Christmas Day post, a Watch Night post, a verse and a service program.
  • Sizes in Design: Square 1080 × 1080, Story 1080 × 1920 and Half-letter 5.5 × 8.5 in for a program. Design is free with any account.

In Design, export the PNG at the default Maximum quality preset (2x), or export a JPG and set its scale to 2x. Design stores print pages at 150 units per inch, so 2x is 300 DPI.

  • Bleed: art runs out here, then gets cut off
  • Trim line: where it is cut
  • Safe area: keep text inside, 0.25 in from trim

A guide, not a printer spec. Bleed of 0.125 in and a 0.25 in safe area are the values Design uses. Printers such as 4over4 ask for text at least 0.125 in inside the trim, and some ask for 3 mm of bleed. Check your printer's own template before you order. Pixels are size in inches times DPI, rounded.

Computes the trim size, the size with 0.125 in bleed, the pixel dimensions at 150 or 300 DPI, the 0.25 in safe-area inset and the aspect ratio for the print sizes Design offers or a custom size. The default is US Letter at 300 DPI with bleed: 8.5 × 11 in trim, 8.75 × 11.25 in with bleed, and 2625 × 3375 px. The preview is captioned as a sample flyer for a fictional church, with placeholder church name and address. In Design, a PNG at the default 2x scale, or a JPG set to 2x, is 300 DPI.

What a Christmas Eve invitation needs.

Six things to check before the invitation goes out, each with the question to ask.

  • Every service time

Are all the times on it, with AM or PM?

Visitors choose a service from the invitation. Write 5, 7 and 9 PM in full, and say if one is for families.

  • The right date and weekday

Does the date match this year?

Christmas Eve 2026 is a Thursday. A template with last year's date is the most common mistake, so read every number twice.

  • Place and parking

Can a first-time guest find the door?

The address, where to park and which entrance. Add a map link for the online post.

  • Who it is for

Does it say children are welcome?

Families decide fast. Say whether there is a children's program and how long the service runs.

  • An online option

Is there a livestream, and where is the link?

Say it plainly if you stream the service, and put the link on the Story, not only on the post.

  • One look all season

Do the Advent, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day posts match?

One font and two colors across the season make the church easy to recognise. Set them once in your Brand Kit.
