Is Canva free for churches?
Canva Nonprofits gives registered organizations free access to all Canva Pro features. Canva’s pages do not mention churches, so a church applies and Canva reviews it. Checked 15 October 2026 on canva.com.
- Canva is a general design tool. Its Nonprofits features page lists Brand Kits, a background remover and social designs among what the program includes. Checked 15 October 2026.
- Canva’s eligibility page asks for an officially registered charitable nonprofit in your country, such as a 501(c)(3) in the US, and says it reviews each application at its discretion. Checked 15 October 2026.
- Applicants send proof of registration and governing documents, verified through a partner named Goodstack. Checked 15 October 2026.
- A sermon-based tool starts from your sermon instead of a blank page. Design is free with any account, and Sermon to Social drafts a week of graphics from a public YouTube sermon.

Pairing 1: Poppins Bold with Inter
Why it works: Poppins is round and friendly, with generous shapes that hold up when a phone shrinks the image. Inter is built for screens and stays clear at small sizes.
Where to avoid it: Avoid it when your brand is traditional or liturgical, where the geometric shapes may feel too casual.

When each one fits.
A blank canvas fits a designer on your team
If someone on your team enjoys designing, a blank-canvas tool gives them room to design anything. Church template packs made for it can speed that up.
A sermon-based tool fits a short week
If the hard part is turning Sunday’s message into posts by Wednesday, starting from the sermon saves the blank page. You edit drafts that already exist.
You can use both
Nothing stops a church using each for what it does best. Download images from either one and share them yourself.

Start from the sermon.
Sermon to Social drafts a week of editable graphics and teaching carousels from a public YouTube sermon with English captions. You review each draft, edit it in Design and download the images. Design is free with any account.
