Product evaluation and buying decisions
Best AI sermon clip makers for churches: a plain comparison
Compare AI sermon clip makers for churches: Sermon Shots, Pulpit AI, Pastors.ai and Church Media Kit, with prices as published on 2026-10-07.

An AI sermon clip maker listens to a recorded sermon, picks short moments, adds captions and gives you vertical videos to post. They can save hours of manual cutting. They can also hand you a clip that starts mid-sentence or makes a point the preacher was setting up to refute.
This comparison covers four tools that churches use or ask about for sermon clips: Sermon Shots, Pulpit AI, Pastors.ai and Church Media Kit's Sermon Uploads. It also mentions two general-purpose clippers. The right choice depends on your church's size, your team and how much review you can do.
Scope and method
Church Media Kit team makes Church Media Kit and has a commercial interest in this comparison. Competitor facts come from each vendor's own public pricing or product page, read on 7 October 2026. Prices are as published on 2026-10-07 in US dollars and can change, so confirm them at the vendor before buying. We did not run each tool on the same sermon, so this is a comparison of what vendors state, not of output quality. We have left out reviews and complaints we could not verify. For corrections, see our editorial standards.
What to look for in a sermon clip maker
Check these before comparing prices:
- Where clips come from. Does the tool find moments inside the part of the recording that is the sermon, or does it clip the whole service, including music and announcements?
- Captions. Are captions burned in, can you edit them, and who checks names, numbers and scripture references?
- Start and end points. Can you adjust a clip, or only keep or discard it? A clip that cuts a syllable or ends before the point lands is a context problem, not just a polish problem.
- Allowance. Is the limit in sermons, upload hours, clips or something else? These do not convert into one another.
- Other outputs. Do you want transcripts, summaries, discussion guides, quote graphics or only video?
- Review route. How easy is it to compare the clip with the full sermon before posting?
- Posting. Does the tool publish for you, or do you download and post yourself?
- Trial and refund terms. What can you test before paying?
The tools at a glance
| Tool | Entry paid plan (as published 2026-10-07) | Free offer | What the vendor says about clips |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sermon Shots | Plus: US$63 monthly, or US$53 a month billed yearly | Free plan with 2 free sermon clips | Unlimited sermon clips on Plus, with transcription and 10 hours of uploads a month |
| Pulpit AI | Basic: US$39 monthly, 5 uploads a month | 2 free uploads, no card stated | Custom and automatic clips and editable captions on all plans |
| Pastors.ai | Pastor: US$30 monthly, 5 sermons a month | Free: 3 sermons a month, 3 watermarked clips each | 8 clips per sermon without watermark on Pastor |
| Church Media Kit Sermon Uploads | Starter: US$29.95 monthly, 4 uploads of up to 2 hours | 7-day trial with 1 upload, card required | Vertical captioned clips to play and download |
The tools measure allowance differently (hours, uploads, sermons), so a dollar figure does not compare cleanly. Do the arithmetic for your own week: how many sermons, how long, how often.
Sermon Shots
Sermon Shots is built around clips. Its Plus plan lists unlimited sermon clips, full transcription, podcast audio, livestream integration and 10 hours of uploads a month. The Silver Suite adds shareable sermon pages, quote, thumbnail and carousel generators, discussion guides, a blog post generator and devotionals. The Gold Suite adds dubbed translations. The page lists a 14-day free trial on paid plans and a 30-day money-back guarantee, and a free plan with two clips.
Who it suits. A church that treats video as its main output and wants clips alongside a wider set of written and graphic outputs on the higher plans. Allowances are by upload hours, so a church that records long services should do the math.
Check before buying. How much you can adjust a clip's start and end, and which outputs sit in the plan you would actually buy.
Pulpit AI
Pulpit AI lists Basic at US$39 for 5 uploads a month, Standard at US$59 for 10 and Pro at US$129 for 25, with 10 percent off annual billing. Its pricing page says every plan gives access to the full feature suite, including custom and automatic clips, customisable captions, transcripts, discussion guides, devotionals and blog content. It lists a free trial of two uploads with no card required.
Who it suits. A church that wants a broad set of sermon outputs from one upload, and values a trial it can use without a card. The cap is in uploads, so the plan sizes by how many sermons you upload each month.
Check before buying. Whether the automatic clips preserve your preacher's argument on your own recordings, and how you adjust them.
Pastors.ai
Pastors.ai starts from a YouTube link. Its free plan covers 3 sermons a month with 3 watermarked clips each and no card. The Pastor plan is US$30 a month for 5 sermons with 8 clips each and no watermark, and the Team plan is US$75 for 10 sermons with 15 clips each. The site lists branded sermon pages, study guides, devotionals and a church chatbot on all plans.
Who it suits. A small team that wants to try the workflow with a free, watermarked output and a lower entry price, and that publishes sermons on YouTube.
Check before buying. The watermark on the free plan, how clips are delivered on your plan, and what the chatbot and study materials mean for your church's approach to teaching authority.
Church Media Kit Sermon Uploads
Sermon Uploads takes a video you upload (MP4 or MOV, up to 10 GB) and picks short vertical clips with captions from the part you marked as the sermon. Each clip plays on the page and downloads individually, or all together. Downloading does not use another upload. It also produces a transcript, summary, small group questions, social post text and a recap email. It does not edit clips and does not post for you, so you download a clip and use your own video app if you need changes. Typical processing is about 15 minutes.
Plans: Starter US$29.95 with 4 uploads of up to 2 hours each, Growth US$59 with 8 uploads of up to 3 hours, and Volume US$119 with 20 uploads of up to 4 hours. Eligible new owners get a 7-day trial with one upload, card required. Check the pricing page for current terms.
Who it suits. A church that wants clips as one of several outputs from an uploaded recording, with a clear flat price and the full sermon always available for comparison. It is less suited to a church that wants in-tool clip editing or direct posting.
Check before buying. Whether the clips match your standard on your own sermon, and whether you need to edit them in another app.
General-purpose clippers
Tools such as OpusClip and Choppity cut clips from long videos of any kind, not just sermons. They can work for a church that already uses them, but they do not know where the sermon starts and ends in a full service and have no church-specific review route. We have not verified current prices for these and do not list them here. Treat any generic clipper the way you would treat any other: test it on a real sermon and check the cuts.
Cost, worked out for your church
Published prices let you do simple arithmetic, though units differ so this is not a quality comparison. If you upload four sermons a month:
- Church Media Kit Starter covers four uploads of up to two hours at US$29.95.
- Pastors.ai Pastor covers up to five sermons at US$30.
- Pulpit AI Basic covers up to five uploads at US$39.
- Sermon Shots Plus covers up to 10 upload hours at US$63 monthly, or US$53 a month billed yearly.
If you record one sermon a week and nothing else, all four fit. If you also want to clip a midweek service or a long conference session, the allowances diverge. Count your actual hours.
Captions and context safety
A sermon clip is a short piece of speech shown without the sentences around it, and AI picks moments by patterns in the transcript, not by theology. Whatever tool you choose, build a review step.
- Watch the full passage. Play the sentence before and after the clip. Does the clip still mean what it meant?
- Check the first and last word. A clip that starts mid-thought or ends before the point lands will confuse a viewer.
- Check the captions against the audio. Names, numbers, scripture references and negations ("not", "never") are where automatic captions most often go wrong. Auto-caption systems are not perfect for any speech.
- Confirm who appears. A congregation shot, a child or a testimony needs consent under your church's policy.
- Have the right person approve. The preacher or teaching lead should approve any clip that compresses a theological claim.
- Keep the full sermon available. Link to the recording so a viewer can find the context.

Verdict by church size
These are suggestions for what to test first, not guarantees.
- A very small church or a solo volunteer. Start with a free offer (Pastors.ai or Pulpit AI) and one real sermon. Check how much you need to fix before posting. If clips are not the main job, a lower plan is enough.
- A small church with one weekly sermon. Compare Pastors.ai Pastor, Pulpit AI Basic and Church Media Kit Starter on one of your own recordings. Choose by how much correction each clip needs and which other outputs you will actually use.
- A mid-sized church with a communications volunteer or staff member. Compare Sermon Shots Silver or Pulpit AI Standard with Church Media Kit Growth. The broader outputs and the review route matter more than the entry price.
- A multi-service or multi-campus church. Use the vendors' allowance units to count your real upload volume. Church Media Kit Volume, Pulpit AI Pro, Pastors.ai Team and Sermon Shots Gold Suite are the larger options, but only a test on your own volume will tell you which fits.
Try it on a real sermon
If you want captioned vertical clips and a transcript, summary, questions and post text from one upload, upload a sermon video to Sermon Uploads. The 7-day trial includes one upload and requires a card, so check the pricing page first. Review every clip against the full recording before you post.
Frequently asked questions
Can AI pick good sermon clips on its own?
It can propose candidates quickly, but it does not know what your preacher meant. Treat each clip as a draft to be watched with the surrounding passage and approved by someone accountable for the teaching.
Do I need to upload the whole service?
Not necessarily. Tools differ in whether they work from the full service or the sermon portion. Sermon Uploads picks clips from the part you marked as the sermon, which avoids music and announcements. Check how any tool you try handles this.
Are free sermon clip makers good enough?
They can be enough to test the workflow. Free offers published on 2026-10-07 are limited, for example two clips on the Sermon Shots free plan or watermarked clips on the Pastors.ai free plan. Check what the free output includes before relying on it.
Can the tool post the clips for me?
Some tools publish for you and some do not. Sermon Uploads does not: you download a clip and post it yourself. Check each vendor's current page if direct posting matters to you.
